Members from Smith Mountain Lake Marine Volunteer Fire Rescue (SMLMVFR) responded to a residential structure fire on Oak Park Drive in Franklin County. SMLMVFR established a backup water supply and worked with units from Glade Hill and Scruggs to extinguish the fire.

Dispatched for a report of a vessel adrift in the main channel between R22 and R24. Found a 2014 Supra with the boat cover in place, unoccupied and sitting against the rocks near R21A. Took the vessel in tow and secured it to the gas dock at the Virginia Dare Marina.

Dispatched for a report of possible HAZMAT floating on the surface of the water in the area of the Virginia Inland Sailing Association between marker R11 and R11A. After an extensive search nothing was found.

Dispatched for a residential fire alarm on Lakeside Circle. Per the alarm company, this was a false alarm and all responding units can cancel.

Smith Mountain Lake Marine Volunteer Fire Rescue responded to a fire on a barge in the area of Windtree Point Drive, Moneta. Once on scene found three barrels of construction debris on fire and not being monitored.

Smith Mountain Lake Marine Volunteer Fire Rescue was dispatched to investigate reports of HAZMAT in the water near Halesford Bridge. Once on scene found a rainbow sheene on the water in the area of Captain’s Quarters docks and extending back into the cove near Parrots Cove Marina.
